Mary Nelson-Dotson, Lodge Leader
With deep respect for the natural world, and the desire to manifest light, love, and life, Mary founded Nature Journey’s lodge with the intent to cultivate a love of nature and the return to a beauty way for all humans. She is trained as a specialist for Sweet Medicine SunDance path Rites of Passage and has provided these ceremonies to the community since 2005. These rites are a much needed honoring of our life cycle and periods of transition that occur from birth to the return to the spirit world. She looks to inspire seekers to find and share their unique beauty through establishing deep connections to the natural rhythms and cycles that guide our dance on Grandmother Earth. Mary is an apprentice dedicated to her own personal self-growth and evolution. She has studied the teachings of the SMSD path for over 30 years and brings these teachings to all who desire knowledge that works and ultimately to manifest beauty in our world.
Nature Journeys Lodge
Nature Journeys Lodge was founded in 2008 as a place where people could reconnect with nature to rejuvenate and fuel their soul. The wheels and keys from the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path provide a foundation to develop deeper relationships with all of Grandmother Earth’s worlds: the minerals, plants, animals, humans and ancestors. Participants are encouraged to challenge themselves through study, experiences and ceremony - to unleash their life as a sacred human.
The Sweet Medicine SunDance Path
Nature Journeys Lodge is one of many teaching and ceremonial Lodges across the planet following the teachings of The Sweet Medicine Sundance Path, whose home Lodge is centered in Phoenix, Arizona. The Sweet Medicine SunDance Path (SMSD) is a Metis (mixed blood) lineage whose vision is to fight against ignorance, slavery, bigotry, racism, war, dogma and superstition using our unique knowledge and ceremony to seed future generations with Beauty, Power, Knowledge, and Freedom. For thousands of years Medicine Men and Women, Shamans and other seekers from various tribes of Turtle Island traveled beyond their tribal boundaries to gather knowledge and wisdom "twisting braids of truth". The Twisted Hairs Medicine Society Council of Elders preserves and shares this sacred knowledge.
